What you'll do

• Perform assigned laboratory testing on patient samples
• prepare samples
• assess results for accuracy, acceptability, and critical limits
• recognize unusual results and resolve discrepancies
• troubleshoot instruments and other issues
• maintain current knowledge of standard operating procedures
• draft and revise SOPs, training documents, validation and verification plans, test cases, and summaries
• and communicate with department and laboratory services personnel. Requires an associate degree in Medical Laboratory Technology and ASCP Board of Certification or equivalent certification, which must be obtained within the first year if not already held.
