Cook I — Retail Dining

Job overview

Compensation is $22–$23 per year. The Cook I — Retail Dining works onsite in Long Beach, CA, during shifts assigned within retail dining operating hours, Monday through Sunday. The role supports retail dining operations of the Beach Shops and works primarily with student employees. Under the direction of a Cook II or above, the Cook I prepares and serves food while maintaining food quality, safe handling, and clean work areas. The role also helps student employees learn through training, leadership, and mentoring, and supports the dining operation’s sustainability initiatives.

What you'll do

• Follow standard operating procedures and health and safety requirements
• prepare and serve food according to menus and quality standards
• store food at appropriate temperatures
• inspect and sanitize work areas and equipment
• receive, verify, sort, and stock supplies
• maintain records used to determine food preparation quantities
• may train newly hired student and non-student staff
• follow sustainability initiatives, including food-waste management.
