The Histotechnician (Traveler) works onsite in Grand Rapids, MI, on a three-month contract. Pay is $65.69 per hour, and the schedule is Monday through Friday, 2:00 p.m. to 10:30 p.m. The role supports a hospital laboratory serving diagnostic information needs. The histotechnician prepares tissue specimens and slides for microscopic evaluation by pathologists. Accurate processing, staining, documentation, and quality control support clinical diagnostic work and regulatory compliance.

What you'll do

• Prepare slides for microscopic evaluation
• process accessioning and reporting paperwork
• ensure proper tissue processing
• perform embedding and microtomy for select specimen types as defined by the histology manager or supervisor
• prepare routine Hematoxylin and Eosin stains
• coverslip stained slides manually or automatically
• perform special stains with manager or supervisor approval
• maintain and clean non-complex equipment
• file finished blocks and slides
• document quality-control activities
• maintain an organized work area
• comply with local, federal, CLIA, and CAP requirements.

Why this role

Three-month contract; requires an associate degree and one year of recent experience, or high school education and five years of acceptable recent Histotechnician experience. HT (ASCP) certification, ASCP eligibility, or five years of full-time experience is required. Overtime is expected; hospital credentialing is required.
