Field Engineer — Power Generation Systems

Job overview

The Field Engineer role is onsite in East Syracuse, NY, with compensation of $130,000–$180,000 per year. The engineer supports Kinsley Group’s Northeast service territory and works with project managers, field service technicians, electrical contractors, and customers. Significant travel within the service territory is required. The role ensures industrial standby and prime power systems are installed, commissioned, tested, and operating safely and in line with design specifications. Through field execution support, commissioning leadership, troubleshooting, controls integration, and customer training, the engineer helps deliver reliable power system installations and a smooth transition to service support.

What you'll do

• Review electrical one-lines, wiring diagrams, control schematics, and submittals
• support installation teams and document deficiencies
• develop and execute startup checklists
• commission generators, paralleling switchgear, automatic transfer switches, load banks, and controls
• troubleshoot electrical, mechanical, and control issues
• support controls configuration and integration
• train customers and deliver commissioning documentation and test reports.
