Director of Accounting

Job overview

The Director of Accounting role is hybrid, based in Tucson or Phoenix, AZ, and pays $130,000–$160,000 annually. The role leads the accounting function and a team of eight, reporting to the CFO, and supports accounting across schools as the organization grows. The role owns close, general ledger, payroll and accounts payable oversight, grant ledgers, and audits while partnering with school leaders and other departments.

What you'll do

• Lead and develop the accounting team
• own the month-end close and general ledger
• oversee payroll and accounts payable
• maintain grant ledgers and oversee federal grant reimbursements and drawdowns
• strengthen internal controls
• improve Workday processes and automate routine work
• support accounting setup for new schools
• provide financial statements and analysis
• lead external audits and ensure timely financial filings.
