Behavioral Health Attendant — Day Shift

The Behavioral Health Attendant — Day Shift role is onsite at a state-operated inpatient psychiatric hospital in Logansport, IN. The schedule is three 12.5-hour shifts per week, approximately 6:30 a.m.–7:30 p.m., for a 13-week assignment with potential extension. Pay is $23 per hour. The role supports adult and geriatric patients on their recovery journey. The attendant provides direct patient support, helps implement treatment plans, and maintains a safe, therapeutic environment. Through structured activities, observation, de-escalation, and daily living support, the role contributes to patient recovery and independence.

What you'll do

• Assist with patient treatment plans
• monitor patients during meals and activities
• observe, document, and report patient condition and behavior
• provide coaching and daily living skills instruction
• support occupational and recreational therapy
• maintain unit safety and order
• use approved de-escalation techniques
• assist with aggressive behavior when necessary
• conduct room searches and monitor contraband
• escort patients to appointments and activities
• perform first aid, CPR, and emergency response when required
• complete clerical duties and progress notes
• obtain medications and administer them under a Registered Nurse’s direction.
