Housing Assistant

The Housing Assistant role is onsite in Odessa, TX, with compensation of $20.50–$28.31 per hour. The position supports the City of Odessa’s Community Development Department and its CDBG and HOME housing programs. The role helps administer housing assistance and rehabilitation programs by preparing and reviewing applications and contracts, evaluating emergency assistance requests, maintaining financial and program records, and supporting reporting and compliance. It also coordinates with residents, city departments, contractors, and HUD representatives to help deliver program services.

What you'll do

• Assist with HOME and CDBG housing rehabilitation, homebuyer, rental assistance, and CHDO programs
• prepare and review applications, bid documents, contracts, and financial documentation
• evaluate emergency assistance requests and recommend eligibility
• receive and tabulate bids and recommend awards
• maintain program accounts and waiting lists
• assist with budgets, HUD reports, Davis-Bacon monitoring, and Fair Housing activities
• respond to citizen inquiries and attend neighborhood meetings and HUD seminars.

Why this role

High school diploma or GED required; two years of progressively responsible secretarial/clerical and office experience required; affordable housing program experience preferred; valid driver’s license required.
