CEI Inspector — Highway Construction

The CEI Inspector role is an onsite position based in Elizabeth City, NC, supporting highway construction projects statewide in North Carolina; candidates may commute from South Carolina. Compensation is not specified. Volkert’s Carolinas Region supports infrastructure improvements and sustainable solutions. This role provides technical inspection and project support to engineers and other professionals, helping ensure construction work, materials, records, and permitted activities meet contract requirements and applicable standards.

What you'll do

• Inspect construction for compliance with contract documents, standards, and specifications
• test materials
• review plans and engineering data
• perform construction survey/layout
• maintain daily diaries and pay records
• monitor contractor operations and utility relocations
• identify constructability or contractual issues
• and coordinate with contractors, utility owners, and property owners.
