Underwriter / Real Estate Lending Specialist

The Underwriter / Real Estate Lending Specialist role is an onsite, full-time position in Eatontown, NJ. Pay is $24–$28 per hour. The role works with the Lending Manager at First Atlantic Federal Credit Union to provide financial services and member support. The specialist analyzes mortgage and other loan requests, evaluates documentation and eligibility, and makes or recommends credit decisions under credit union lending policies. Accurate underwriting, compliance reviews, and member service help provide quality loan products and maintain member relationships.

What you'll do

• Analyze and underwrite mortgage loans, including cash flow, appraisals, applications, title reports, and verifications
• apply loan program criteria and document decisions
• review files for completeness and compliance
• cross-train team members when applicable
• pre-qualify members and determine loan limits
• perform post-closing reviews
• verify rate and maturity-date changes
• manage escrow accounts and timely payments
• be eligible to register under the SAFE Act.
