Job overview

Sensor Development Scientist is an onsite role in Pittsburgh, PA. The salary range is $81,600–$116,300 per year. The role is on Battelle's Research Support Team supporting the National Energy Technology Laboratory and its energy infrastructure research. The scientist designs, fabricates, and tests gas and chemical sensing technologies for energy infrastructure. What you'll do

  • Design and develop gas and chemical sensors using FET, chemiresistive, and other platforms
  • design and synthesize semiconducting thin films, metal oxide and 2D nanomaterials, nanoparticles, and nanoporous materials
  • modify sensing materials for sensitive and selective operation in challenging conditions
  • collaborate on devices for detecting gas, corrosion, and pipeline environmental factors
  • participate in field demonstrations
  • document and communicate results through manuscripts, reports, and presentations.
