Job overview

The Flight Sciences Manager role is fully onsite in San Luis Obispo, CA, with an annual salary range of $118,000–$175,000. The position is part of Empirical Systems Aerospace’s engineering management team, supporting aerospace engineering, product development, manufacturing, testing, and technology demonstrations. The manager leads the Flight Sciences disciplines and coordinates resources and milestones across product development. The role advances engineering strategy and quality output through technical leadership, team development, and coordination with project leaders and other departments.

What you'll do

  • Manage aerospace and guidance, navigation, and controls engineering professionals, including staffing, training, budgets, performance evaluation, and career development
  • allocate resources to project demands
  • lead engineering work in GNC, CFD, flight simulation, and aerodynamic design
  • oversee development and validation of hardware-in-the-loop environments
  • coordinate staffing with project leaders
  • and support Flight Sciences and Test Readiness Reviews.

Why this role

Requires a bachelor’s degree in aerospace engineering, mechanical engineering, or a relevant STEM discipline; 10 or more years of aerospace vehicle development engineering experience; and at least three years of formal leadership or functional management experience. Must be a U.S. Person under ITAR/EAR.
