Utility Locating Technician – Fiber-Optic Utilities

The Utility Locating Technician – Fiber-Optic Utilities role is onsite in East Peoria, IL, and compensation is $18–$23 per hour. The technician supports i3 Broadband’s fiber-optic utility network by protecting underground cables and conduits from damage during digging and excavation. The role identifies and marks underground utility routes, documents completed locates, and communicates with crews, homeowners, contractors, and utility managers. Accurate field work helps protect infrastructure and supports safe project activity.

What you'll do

• Locate and mark underground i3 Broadband fiber-optic utilities
• search designated areas and complete work covered by locating tickets
• document work on internal tickets
• photograph locates and upload images
• communicate with utility managers, crews, staff, homeowners, and contractors
• prioritize requests and plan efficient routes
• close work orders using a company laptop
• maintain the company vehicle and report equipment issues.
