The maker fabricates, repairs, and modifies tools and dies to provided specifications, coordinating work through the production process and verifying finished parts. The role supports accurate, reliable tooling by operating machine tools, assembling components, and testing completed tools against specifications.

What you'll do

• Analyze specifications and plan operations
• lay out metal stock
• set up and operate conventional or CNC lathes, milling machines, and grinders
• fit, assemble, repair, or modify dies, jigs, gauges, and tools
• conduct test runs and adjust tools as needed
• verify dimensions and clearances with measuring instruments
• lead die construction and tryout
• maintain tools and calibration
• follow safety rules and keep the work area clean.
