The Shop Steward role is onsite in Watertown, MA. Compensation is $60,000–$80,000 per year. The role runs day-to-day operations of Tutor Intelligence’s research and development shop, the Garage, and reports to the Hardware Engineering Manager. The position keeps the shop organized, supplied, and ready for engineering work by managing storage, inventory, tools, equipment, purchasing, receiving, and layout. This operational foundation supports the company’s work building and deploying robotics technology.

What you'll do

• Assign labeled homes to tools, parts, materials, and projects
• plan shop layout and arrange furniture, workbenches, and racks
• prepare workspaces for new engineers
• purchase supplies and maintain consumables
• receive large orders
• organize and maintain tools and shop equipment, including 3D printers and CNC machines
• may run the CNC for small jobs
• maintain cleanliness standards
• manage surplus, recycling, and retired robot teardown and parts recovery.
