What you'll do

• Provide ICU nursing care
• obtain patient and family histories
• assess patients and plan, document, and revise care
• verify and carry out physician orders
• communicate patient information to charge nurses and physicians
• administer medications and IV therapies and assess responses
• interpret cardiac rhythms
• respond to emergencies and procedures
• educate patients and families
• operate defibrillators, EKG machines, monitors, and other emergency equipment
• care for patients with Swan-Ganz catheters, arterial lines, and mechanical ventilators
• participate in discharge planning
• review laboratory data and electronic medical records
• titrate medications
• document reports and maintain patient rights and privacy.
