Building Engineer

Job overview

The Building Engineer position is onsite in Ashburn, VA, with compensation of $30–$38 per hour. The role provides maintenance support for H5 Data Centers’ data center and campus, helping maintain reliable service for colocation customers. The engineer monitors and maintains critical mechanical, electrical, and environmental infrastructure so systems remain within operating tolerances and facility uptime is supported. The role also assists with specialized maintenance and repairs, coordinates with outside vendors, and contributes recommendations to improve maintenance procedures.

What you'll do

• Monitor critical systems and conduct building inspections
• operate mechanical and electrical systems
• learn and use controls for chiller plants, HVAC systems, cooling towers, water systems, and fire systems
• maintain mechanical and environmental systems and recommend repairs or procedure improvements
• contribute to minor repairs and light construction involving structures, plumbing, HVAC equipment, and electrical distribution
• oversee third-party activities and services
• assist with basic security duties
• support safety policies, procedures, and training.

Why this role

12-hour shifts on a four-days-on, four-days-off work week; 2–5 years of electrical and mechanical experience in a high-availability environment required; college or technical degree preferred, with equivalent work experience considered; CFC refrigeration license is a plus; lifting up to 50 pounds and working from ladders, hoists, or lifts required.
