Teacher Assistant

The Teacher Assistant role is onsite in Fairport, NY. Compensation is $16–$18.50 per hour. The position supports classroom programming and child care at First Learning. The assistant helps children participate safely in activities, supports positive guidance and self-help skills, and coordinates with the Lead Teacher, Site Director, coworkers, and families to provide consistent care and share information about children’s activities and development.

• Provide supervision and daily care for children in the assigned classroom
• assist with activities and programming
• use modeling, observation, demonstration, questioning, and reinforcement
• maintain a safe and motivating environment
• provide positive guidance
• consult supervisors about behavior plans
• prepare alternate activities when needed
• keep the classroom organized
• communicate with families
• maintain confidentiality
• participate in training and follow applicable policies and regulations
• document relevant information.

Why this role

Requires a high school diploma or equivalent and one year of experience working with children. A Child Development Associate credential may be completed within the first year; health and safety training and First Aid/CPR certification are required or may be completed within the stated timeframes.
