The Medical Laboratory Scientist or Medical Laboratory Technician role is onsite in Osage, IA. Pay starts at $28.92 per hour for an MLS or $25.84 per hour for an MLT, based on previous experience. The laboratory professional performs and verifies tests, interprets results, and supports accurate clinical information for patient care. MLS duties include routine and complex testing and quality assurance; MLT duties include waived and moderately complex testing and, with orientation and supervision, highly complex testing. The position is 0.9 FTE, 72 hours per pay period, with weekends, holidays, and call included in the stated availability requirements.

What you'll do

• For MLS: perform routine and complex laboratory tests
• confirm and verify results
• correlate and interpret results using knowledge of physiological conditions
• identify problems and determine solutions
• monitor and resolve quality assurance issues
• evaluate and implement methods and instruments. For MLT: perform waived and moderately complex tests and, with orientation and supervision, highly complex tests
• correlate and interpret results
• monitor quality assurance within preset parameters
• recognize and solve problems.

Why this role

MLS requires a bachelor's degree in science and an accepted MLS/MT certification. MLT requires an associate degree in science and MLT (ASCP) certification or certification within six months of hire. BLS and Mandatory Reporter certification are required within six months in the position.
