Direct Care Specialist — 1st Shift

The Direct Care Specialist role is onsite at the Christian Children’s Home of Ohio campus in Wooster, OH. Pay is $17.00–$17.50 per hour. The role supports youth residents ages 6–18 through care, supervision, and therapeutic and educational activities. The specialist meets residents’ physical and emotional needs while helping maintain a safe, structured environment. Through relationship-building, daily routines, treatment-plan participation, and communication with the care team, the role supports residents’ development and well-being.

What you'll do

• Provide supervision and support for residents
• assist with daily educational and therapeutic activities, meals, hygiene, clothing needs, recreation, and appointments
• prepare meals and attend to medical needs
• use Safe Crisis Management de-escalation and restraint techniques when needed
• follow routines and maintain safety
• complete paperwork and logs
• participate in treatment plans, team meetings, and visitations
• communicate observations and maintain confidentiality.

Why this role

First shift; applicants must be at least 21 and have a high school diploma or GED; previous experience with children is preferred but not required. Safe Crisis Management training and compliance are required.
