Direct Support Professional

The Direct Support Professional role is onsite in San Leandro, CA, serving people in home and community settings. Pay is $17–$25 per hour. DABS provides skills training and supported living services to adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities. Depending on program needs, experience, and availability, the assignment may be as a Personal Attendant or Skills Instructor. The role provides individualized supervision or instruction that supports health, safety, daily living skills, independence, and meaningful community participation.

What you'll do

• Depending on assignment, provide person-centered supervision and occasional hands-on ADL support
• supervise medication administration when needed
• accompany or transport individuals to appointments
• observe and report changes
• teach independent living skills
• support community participation, health, safety, self-advocacy, and goal setting
• use de-escalation techniques during community activities
• complete daily logs and progress notes
• participate in interdisciplinary meetings as needed.
