Mainframe Site Reliability Engineer

The Mainframe Site Reliability Engineer role is onsite in Upper Marlboro, MD. Compensation is not specified. Reliability practices, automation, incident response, and capacity and performance work help maintain availability and reduce recurring production issues.

What you'll do

• Operate, monitor, and maintain IBM z/OS mainframe environments
• implement SRE practices including SLOs, error budgets, and reliability targets
• lead incident resolution with application and infrastructure teams
• develop automation scripts and tools
• perform capacity planning, performance tuning, and workload optimization across CICS, IMS, DB2, and MQ
• support patching, maintenance windows, and releases
• extend CI/CD practices to mainframe pipelines
• document procedures, runbooks, and post-incident reviews
• participate in an on-call rotation
• drive systemic reliability improvements.

Why this role

Requires U.S. citizenship and ability to obtain and maintain a Secret clearance, 3+ years of IBM z/OS experience, and proficiency in JCL, REXX, or other mainframe scripting languages. A bachelor’s degree or five additional years of relevant experience is required.
