The Water Construction Equipment Operator I role is onsite in Brenham, TX. Starting pay is $18.30 per hour; higher pay may be available based on a current CDL, relevant experience, or water licensing. The role supports the City of Brenham’s water system and may assist with wastewater collection system construction or repairs. The operator uses and maintains equipment while helping construct and maintain water system components. The work also includes routine system maintenance, work orders, and responding to after-hours customer water or sewer problems through wastewater department on-call duty.

What you'll do

• Operate equipment including jet machines, power saws, underground utility locators, water pumps, backhoes, and cranes
• check and maintain equipment
• perform routine water system and valve maintenance
• replace water meters and meter boxes and conduct flow testing
• test and maintain fire hydrants
• set up barricades and detours
• excavate around utility lines
• complete work orders
• clean and maintain vehicles, equipment, yard, and shop
• serve on wastewater department on-call duty for after-hours water or sewer problems.
