The Registered Nurse – Emergency Department Inpatient Stepdown role is onsite in Tacoma, WA. Pay is $48.00–$60.00 per hour. The position supports healthcare delivery at Pierce County Jail under the supervision of the Health Services Administrator and Director of Nursing. The nurse provides direct and indirect nursing care within the scope of state nursing practice, supporting patient assessment, treatment, emergency response, and coordinated care in the facility.

What you'll do

• Provide direct and indirect nursing care
• take and document patient histories and vital signs
• assist with examinations, treatments, triage, sick call, and minor procedures
• initiate and document prescribed protocol treatment
• respond to medical emergencies
• communicate changes in patient condition
• coordinate with facility healthcare staff and interdisciplinary teams
• use the EHR and assist with staff training as requested
• support emergency preparedness, safety, and quality monitoring.
