Optometric Technician

The Optometric Technician role is onsite in Houston, TX, at the TSO Champions or TSO Briargrove locations. Pay is $16–$18 per hour, depending on experience and knowledge. Texas State Optical combines diagnostic technology with patient care to provide vision services. The technician prepares patients for eye examinations, performs diagnostic pre-testing, assists doctors, and educates patients about contact lenses, eyewear, and specialty services. The role also supports appointment follow-up and maintains exam rooms and testing equipment.

What you'll do

• Welcome and prepare patients for eye examinations
• verify appointments and update patient information
• obtain medical histories
• perform OCT, Optomap, visual field, topography, auto-refraction, and other pre-testing
• assist with contact lens training and patient education
• assist doctors
• schedule follow-ups
• maintain exam rooms and equipment
• cross-train in other office roles.
