The Residence Counselor, Per Diem role is onsite in Nanuet, NY, with hours scheduled as needed and potentially including evenings and weekends. Pay is $19–$22 per hour. The role supports Greater Mental Health of New York’s Licensed Residential Services program. The counselor supports residents’ daily living, recovery, and independent-living goals in a home-like setting. The role provides supervision, skills coaching, documentation, and assistance with safety and community participation.

What you'll do

• Assist residents with decision-making, problem-solving, daily living, and personal care
• teach meal preparation, housekeeping, money management, and use of community resources
• supervise self-medication programs
• respond to emergencies
• maintain health records and progress notes
• participate in recreational activities
• transport residents to appointments and shopping as requested.

Why this role

Education and experience may be met through a relevant master’s or bachelor’s degree, an associate’s degree plus three years of human services experience, or a high school diploma plus five years of experience. ASL and Deaf culture knowledge is required at Nanuet House.
