Women's Apparel Designer

Job overview

The Women’s Apparel Designer role is hybrid, based primarily in J.McLaughlin’s Greenpoint, Brooklyn office, with at least four days per week in office. Compensation is $85,000–$110,000 per year. The designer joins the Women’s apparel cross-functional product team. The role develops seasonal apparel collections from concept through approval, partnering with merchandising, product development, fabric, and production teams to create designs that fit the brand direction and can be produced on schedule.

What you'll do

• Design seasonal woven and knit women’s apparel collections
• develop concepts, sketches, and design details
• create design packages with sketches and material and trim details
• support color, material, and print direction
• review samples and provide feedback
• participate in line reviews, fittings as applicable, and milestone meetings
• conduct trend and market research
• support materials libraries, archives, and sample organization
• travel occasionally to vendors, factories, or other business locations as required.
