The School-Based Counseling Paid Internship is onsite in Cleveland, OH, with services delivered in schools and in homes as needed. Compensation varies by arrangement: part-time is $20.60 per hour, while PRN is $25 per billable hour. Applewood Centers provides mental health, social services, and education to children, adolescents, and families in Cuyahoga and Lorain counties. The intern provides therapeutic support and instruction to foster clients’ emotional, physical, and mental growth. Through assessment, counseling, treatment planning, family and school collaboration, and referrals, the role supports student and family needs while meeting university field-experience requirements.

What you'll do

• Provide psychotherapy, therapeutic behavioral services, and consultation based on assessed needs
• provide assessments as needed
• interview clients and maintain records and treatment plans
• collaborate with families on measurable plans and crisis planning
• support clients and school staff
• coordinate with school professionals and parents
• provide mental health-related training to school personnel
• complete documentation and meet the assigned school schedule.

Why this role

Requires a bachelor’s degree and enrollment in an accredited master’s program in social work, counseling, or marriage and family therapy. An Ohio trainee license or higher must be in process before billing services. Travel is required; occasional evenings are expected.
