The Quality & Food Safety (QFS) Technician — Variable Day Shifts role is onsite in Chicago, IL, at 5370 S. Cicero Ave. Compensation is $20 per hour. Farmer’s Fridge aims to make it simple for everyone to eat well through healthy meals and snacks offered through smart Fridges and direct-to-consumer service. The technician monitors and advances food safety and quality programs through daily process checks, helping protect product integrity and customer confidence. The role performs inspections, testing, monitoring, and documentation and escalates issues to the Lead.

What you'll do

• Follow workplace safety rules, Good Manufacturing Practices, and QFS procedures
• perform food safety and quality checks and complete checklists
• monitor critical control points and quality control points
• conduct ATP and allergen swabs
• titrate wash flume chemical concentration and check cook/chill temperatures
• set up metal detectors for new SKUs and monitor check paperwork
• collect ingredient samples and conduct basic sensory testing
• retain SKU samples to verify labels, seals, expiration dates, and finished-product quality
• calibrate thermometers and verify scales
• escalate issues to the Lead.

Why this role

Variable day shifts; requires at least one year of quality and/or food manufacturing experience and working knowledge of GMPs, SOPs, HACCP, and food safety requirements. Spanish bilingual ability is preferred but not required; work requires standing and walking in a 38°F environment for a full shift.
