Substance Use Counselor

The Substance Use Counselor role is onsite at the Detention Center - North in Charlotte, NC. Compensation is $53,102–$71,089 per year. The position provides substance use treatment services and works with an interdisciplinary team at a community partner work site. The counselor supports clients’ treatment and recovery through individual and group counseling, screening, assessment, education, and case management. The role also maintains client records and communicates with the team to support coordinated services and monitor client progress.

What you'll do

• Provide substance use services following the 12 Core Functions
• conduct individual and group counseling, screenings, and assessments
• assist with person-centered plans and monitor progress
• document according to Federal, state, and county policies
• participate in clinical supervision
• provide recovery-related education
• conduct random urine drug screens or Breathalyzer tests
• maintain client records and communicate with the interdisciplinary team. May be required to staff shelters or assist with mass care during emergencies.
