Electrical Systems Engineer

Electrical Systems Engineer, onsite, Vista, CA. Salary $87,100.00 - $157,450.00 per year. Leidos is a technology leader serving government and commercial customers. This role supports the Security Enterprise Solutions (SES) operation, specifically the Ports and Borders (P&B) business unit, which designs and manufactures security equipment. The engineer will work on developing next-generation X-ray based security equipment and perform sustaining engineering for existing products.

What you'll do

• Work as part of a cross-functional engineering team with Scientists, Mechanical and Software Engineers, and Test Engineers to develop next-generation X-ray based security equipment.
• Design electrical circuits and systems to support development of X-ray equipment including data acquisition systems, X-ray source controls, power supplies and distribution, networks, and integration of COTS devices.
• Perform sustaining engineering of existing products, including obsolescence issues and feature changes/updates.
• Design printed circuits and direct PCB layout, fabrication, and assembly.
• Produce Engineering documentation such as design specifications, interface control documents, schematics, wiring diagrams, and bills of material.
• Troubleshoot existing and new designs down to the component level, performing root cause analysis.
• Typically, there are no more than 2-3 Electrical Engineers working on any single project, and for smaller projects the Engineer will work on their own to develop solutions, present concepts and designs in a review, and complete the implementation.

What we're looking for

Education

BS in Electrical Engineering or similar.

Experience

BS in Electrical Engineering or similar with at least 5 years of professional experience.
