What you'll do

• Assess patients’ clinical condition and psychosocial needs
• observe and document responses to medications and treatment
• communicate and coordinate with surgeons, anesthesiologists, and healthcare personnel
• educate patients and caregivers
• implement safe plans of care
• prepare the operating room for subsequent patients
• count narcotics with another RN per facility policy
• ensure surgical readiness, safe positioning, asepsis, correct preparation and draping, and accounting for sponges, needles, and sharps
• handle and document specimens
• report intraoperative condition to PACU nurses
• support preoperative assessment, comfort, medication administration, and patient education.
