Compensation is not specified. Tutor is an onsite, part-time role in Fremont, NC. The tutor supports Boys & Girls Clubs of the Coastal Plain programs for students in grades 1–5. The role helps students with homework and provides supplemental learning activities in grade-level math and literacy. Through individualized lesson planning, tutoring, and engaging after-school activities, the tutor supports students’ learning and social, emotional, intellectual, and physical development.

What you'll do

• Assist with individualized lesson plans
• tutor assigned students four times per week for three hours per day
• assess and encourage learning
• complete academic reports and documentation
• support after-school literacy activities
• guide youth in educational programs
• build relationships with youth, volunteers, parents, schools, and community
• track attendance
• help organize program areas
• attend club programs and special events.

Why this role

Associate’s degree or higher is preferred; certified teachers are required for clubs with the 21st Century Grant. Requires at least two years of relevant work or volunteer experience with youth. The role may require travel between locations.
