What you'll do

• Navigate patient charts and clinical documentation in Epic
• manage referrals and authorizations through Epic
• assign patients to appropriate providers or facilities
• verify insurance eligibility and authorization requirements
• route medical documentation
• use HIE systems including RHIO to obtain reports
• obtain and review laboratory, radiology, surgical, and specialty-provider documentation
• track referral status
• assist with appointment scheduling when permitted
• follow up with patients who miss appointments
• maintain HIPAA compliance and confidentiality
• participate in audits and process improvement.

Why this role

Requires a high school diploma or equivalent, at least two years of healthcare, medical, or human services experience, and at least one year using an EMR. Epic experience and bilingual capabilities are preferred. Requires ability to obtain New York State Insurance Assister Certification within six months; a valid certificate is preferred.
