Building Controls Technician — HVAC Automation (Contract-to-Hire)

The Building Controls Technician — HVAC Automation role is onsite in Joliet, IL, with daily travel to customer sites around the Chicagoland area. The stated pay range is $30–$40 per hour. The role supports building automation and energy management systems serving schools, municipalities, and commercial and industrial facilities. The role exists to install, program, service and troubleshoot building control systems. It contributes to customer comfort, efficiency and security by maintaining HVAC controls, responding to service calls, completing preventive maintenance and commissioning work, and training customer operators.

What you'll do

• Install, wire, start up and commission DDC controllers, sensors, actuators, VFDs and field devices
• program and configure controllers and Niagara station graphics
• respond to service calls, including emergency and after-hours calls
• troubleshoot hardware, wiring, network and sequence issues
• perform preventive maintenance and updates
• integrate systems using BACnet, Modbus and LON
• assist with commissioning and testing
• maintain documentation and train customer staff.
