The role supports intake and case acceptance through client interviews, document review, and advice under attorney supervision. Working with attorney-paralegal teams, the advocate helps identify appropriate cases, maintains organized files, and contributes to civil legal aid across practice areas, initially focused on housing and public benefits.

What you'll do

  • Interview potential clients
  • collect and review documents
  • collaborate with project directors to identify cases for representation or other extended services
  • advise clients and draft correspondence under attorney supervision after training
  • maintain digital and paper files
  • participate in interdisciplinary civil legal aid teams
  • learn and apply a holistic, trauma-informed approach
  • maintain confidentiality and other ethical responsibilities.
