What you'll do

• Set up, calibrate, and operate band saws, plate saws, or other precision metal-cutting equipment
• retrieve and stage materials
• use calipers, micrometers, and other tools to verify dimensions
• mark identifying data
• follow work orders and cut specifications
• process orders accurately and on time
• install and adjust blades and cutting speeds
• perform routine maintenance
• record heat numbers and material usage
• follow safety and quality standards
• maintain a clean work area
• inspect sample parts and drawings for conformance
• diagnose machine malfunctions
• manage scrap and waste
• operate equipment to verify efficiency.
