Licensed Mental Health Counselor, Correctional Health

Compensation is $0 per year. The Licensed Mental Health Counselor role is onsite at Limestone Correctional Facility in Harvest, AL. NaphCare provides healthcare services to correctional facilities, and this role supports people in residence with complex mental health and medical needs. The counselor assesses, diagnoses, and treats mental illness, substance use disorders, and behavioral concerns while protecting patients’ rights, dignity, and health. The role contributes to coordinated care through counseling, treatment planning, documentation, staff collaboration, and preparation for residents’ release.

What you'll do

• Assess, diagnose, and treat patients with mental illnesses, substance use disorders, and behavioral issues
• collaborate with medical, mental health, and correctional staff
• conduct and document evaluations, progress notes, counseling notes, and treatment plans
• address criminogenic needs and promote positive behavioral change
• participate in education and training activities
• apply DSM-V/DSM-V-TR criteria
• manage case files and reports and participate in hearings
• support patient education and group therapy
• monitor compliance with site and company policies and ACA and NCCHC standards.

Why this role

Requires an active, unrestricted Alabama license such as LCSW, LCMHC, LMFT, LMHP, or LISW, plus active AHA BLS CPR certification; correctional healthcare experience is preferred.
