The Lead Chemist role is onsite in Reno, NV, with an expected pay range of $120,000–$180,000 per year. American Battery Technology Company develops domestic, sustainable sourcing of critical battery materials through battery recycling and metal extraction technologies. The Lead Chemist provides analytical chemistry and quality-control leadership to ensure recycled battery products meet composition, purity, and compliance standards. The role develops and oversees testing methods, mentors laboratory staff, and collaborates with production, engineering, research, sales, and customers to support reliable products and process improvement.

What you'll do

• Establish, validate, and optimize analytical methods for recycled battery products and trace metallic impurities
• partner with the QC Manager on quality thresholds and testing
• oversee high-precision testing
• mentor technicians and junior chemists
• serve as subject matter expert for ICP-OES, XRF, and TOC instrumentation
• collaborate with engineering and production teams to troubleshoot process chemistry
• support R&D method development
• maintain SOPs and enforce laboratory safety. Requires a bachelor’s degree in Chemistry, 15+ years of hands-on laboratory experience, and prior senior or supervisory experience.
