The Early Head Start Teacher — Substitute role is onsite in Troy, NY. Pay is $20–$22 per hour for 35 hours per week. The Commission on Economic Opportunity’s Early Head Start/Head Start program provides comprehensive early-childhood services to children and families in Rensselaer County. The substitute provides temporary classroom coverage and plans and implements daily education for infants and toddlers. The role supports children’s development through age-appropriate lessons, positive guidance, family engagement, required records, and coordination with special service providers when applicable.

What you'll do

  • Promote development and learning for children ages six weeks to three years using Head Start standards, the Early Learning Outcomes Framework, and applicable childcare regulations
  • implement curriculum and prepare developmentally appropriate lesson plans
  • use positive guidance strategies
  • build relationships with staff, families, and children
  • conduct two home visits and two parent-teacher conferences each year
  • complete required attendance, meal, health, lesson, and assessment records
  • use daily routines to support learning
  • and collaborate with special service providers and implement IEP/IFSP goals when applicable.
