Geotechnical Design Engineer

The Geotechnical Design Engineer role is onsite in Mentor, OH; compensation is not specified. The position contributes to Menard’s ground-improvement project design and documentation.

What you'll do

• Review geotechnical exploration reports, project specifications, and civil and structural plans
• assess ground-improvement approaches
• develop cross sections and soil profiles
• select soil properties
• perform finite-element modeling as needed
• complete stability, settlement, bearing-capacity, and other geotechnical and structural analyses
• prepare or coordinate design calculations and drawings
• review field-engineer quality assurance and quality control
• and respond to project-team questions and field conditions that differ from the design.

Why this role

Requires a bachelor’s or master’s degree in civil engineering with geotechnical design experience or coursework, or equivalent education and experience. Engineer in Training certification is desired but not required.
