Call Taker – EMS Communications

The Call Taker – EMS Communications role is onsite in Malden, MA. Pay is $23–$30 per hour. The position is an entry-level role in Cataldo Ambulance Business Trust’s Emergency Medical Dispatch and Communications Department. The call taker receives and processes emergency and non-emergency medical calls, gathers information to determine response needs, and provides pre-arrival instructions when applicable. Accurate call records and communication with public safety agencies help dispatch the appropriate EMS response.

What you'll do

• Receive calls from the public, facility staff, and public safety entities
• use structured questions to determine the nature, severity, and location of medical emergencies
• identify appropriate response and priority levels
• answer incoming lines and assist callers on hold within required time frames
• use CAD systems and maintain accurate real-time call and incident records
• communicate with public safety agencies, hospitals, and other entities
• ensure PCRs are synced as required
• complete patient and non-emergent bookings
• multitask data entry at 30–40 words per minute while actively listening.

Why this role

Entry-level role with an extensive training program. EMD, CPR, 911, and Telecommunicator certifications may be obtained internally during the initial orientation period and must be maintained. Day, evening, overnight, weekend, and holiday work may be required.
