Denials and Appeals Specialist

The Denials and Appeals Specialist role is onsite in Jacksonville, FL, with a Monday–Friday schedule from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.; annual compensation is $60,000–$70,000. The role supports GlyCare’s billing team and a hospital-based medical group operating across multiple states. The specialist works denied, rejected, delayed, underpaid, and unpaid claims through research and resolution. The work supports timely reimbursement and helps reduce preventable denials through accurate follow-up, appeals, documentation, and communication of recurring issues.

What you'll do

• Review claim status, payer responses, account history, and supporting documents
• contact commercial insurers, Medicare, Medicaid, and managed care payers
• correct and resubmit claims
• prepare reconsiderations and appeals
• research eligibility, authorization, coding, enrollment, submission, and reimbursement issues
• document payer communications and follow-up
• monitor accounts through resolution or escalation
• identify recurring issues and report trends
• use Excel and billing-system tools
• collaborate with billing, credentialing, clinical operations, providers, and leadership
• assist patients with billing questions
• support related revenue-cycle functions as needed.
