The Associate Principal Investigator, Virology role is onsite in Frederick, MD. Annual compensation is $98,157.05–$162,172.52. The role supports the National Biological Threat Characterization Center at the National Biodefense Analysis and Countermeasures Center, which conducts research to understand biological vulnerabilities and hazards. The investigator leads virology research and laboratory work to address biological threat characterization knowledge gaps. The role also maintains research capabilities, develops and validates methods, supports quality and safety systems, and provides technical direction and mentoring to staff.

What you'll do

• Design and lead virology research projects
• perform laboratory research involving viral agents
• prepare technical reports, proposals, presentations, safety plans, and schedules
• develop, optimize, and validate methods
• evaluate technologies and protocols and update procedures
• maintain quality-system records and investigate departures
• review laboratory results and ensure equipment, reagents, and supplies are properly maintained
• direct and mentor staff.
