The Substance Use Counselor works onsite in Decatur, Illinois. Compensation varies by education and credentials: $25 per hour with a bachelor’s degree, $27 per hour with a bachelor’s degree plus CADC, $60,000 annually with a master’s degree, or $64,000 annually with a master’s degree plus LPC, LSW, or CADC. Heritage Behavioral Health Center is a mission-driven community behavioral health clinic serving a multi-county area. The counselor assesses adults with substance use or co-occurring mental health disorders, develops individualized treatment plans, and provides outpatient and intensive outpatient counseling. The role supports recovery through evidence-based care, harm reduction, and coordination with a multidisciplinary team.

What you'll do

• Conduct substance use and mental health assessments using ASAM Criteria and IM-CANS
• develop individualized treatment plans
• provide individual and group outpatient and intensive outpatient counseling
• use Motivational Interviewing and other evidence-based practices
• incorporate harm reduction and support Medication-Assisted Recovery
• facilitate recovery and relapse-prevention groups
• coordinate care
• maintain documentation
• participate in team meetings and professional development.
