Fiber Testing Technician

Job overview

The Fiber Testing Technician role is based onsite in Lansing, MI, with nationwide travel assignments that may change weekly and last up to three weeks. Compensation is not specified. The technician supports CCI Systems’ work upgrading and expanding broadband and telecommunications networks. The role tests, certifies, troubleshoots, and validates fiber networks for construction, turnups, and maintenance. Accurate testing and documentation help identify performance issues, meet customer and industry standards, and support network activation and restoration.

What you'll do

• Perform Tier 1 and Tier 2 fiber testing to customer specifications and TIA, ANSI, and IEC standards
• test single-mode and multimode fiber using OTDR, OLTS, CD/PMD, optical power meters, inspection scopes, and VFLs
• interpret design documents and splice diagrams
• troubleshoot loss, reflectance, continuity, and intermittent faults
• verify routes, assignments, and labels
• support turnups, acceptance testing, and customer handoffs
• respond to outages
• document test results and maintain and calibrate equipment
• follow OSHA, NESC, and NEC safety requirements.
