Building Plans Examiner and/or Inspector

Job overview

The Building Plans Examiner and/or Inspector role is onsite in Panama City, FL; some travel may be required for inspections or project management in the assigned area. Compensation is not specified. CAP Government provides building inspection and plan review services for construction projects. The role reviews construction plans and permit materials for compliance with the Florida Building Code and related regulations, and inspects buildings and facilities as required. It also communicates code requirements, documents findings, and helps resolve questions and compliance issues with property owners and construction professionals.

What you'll do

• Examine building permit applications, blueprints, specifications, surveys, product approvals, shop drawings, and other documents for code compliance
• prepare reports and notices of correction
• resolve unusual issues
• discuss technical code matters with design professionals and contractors
• inspect buildings and facilities
• respond to code and review inquiries
• maintain records
• review residential and commercial permits
• explain and enforce applicable codes
• issue violation notices and citations
• assist with customer service issues and research complaints.
