The Special Education Teacher – Part-Time role is onsite in Glendale, AZ. Salary is $30,000–$35,000 annually. Sun Valley Academy is a charter school district focused on educating the whole child through academics, leadership development, community involvement, and extracurricular activities. The teacher adapts instruction and classroom supports to students’ individual needs, implements and monitors Individual Education Plans, and supports academic progress, social integration, personal care, and participation in school activities. The schedule is Monday and Friday, 7:30 a.m.–3:30 p.m., and Wednesday, 7:30 a.m.–1:00 p.m.

What you'll do

• Provide instruction and classroom management for students with special needs
• teach whole groups, individuals, and small groups
• provide behavioral support
• develop and prepare instructional materials
• reinforce skills and social behaviors
• support students inside and outside the classroom
• implement Individual Education Plans and monitor progress
• maintain instructional and student records
• assist with student transportation, meals, recess, and field trips
• collaborate with teachers, parents, administrators, and community partners.
