Job overview

The Plans Examiner role is onsite in Draper, UT, with a Monday–Friday schedule, generally 8:00 AM–5:00 PM and up to 40 hours per week. Pay is $31.54–$52.59 per hour. Draper City reviews construction plans to support code compliance and public safety. Under the Chief Building Official, the examiner reviews plans and specifications, interprets adopted construction codes, and supports building inspectors and city departments. The role helps ensure proposed and active construction meets applicable municipal requirements.

What you'll do

• Examine residential, commercial, industrial, public, and other development plans and specifications for code compliance
• review building plans
• assist building inspectors with difficult or unusual code issues
• maintain plan-checking records
• conduct or attend pre-construction meetings
• answer questions from city departments
• review contractor and homeowner problems
• inspect buildings under construction
• interpret adopted construction codes.

Why this role
