The Substitute Instructor role is onsite in Norfolk, VA. Pay is $25 per hour. YELLOW’s mission is to expand equitable educational opportunities for youth through its YELLOWHAB program. The instructor fills in alongside teaching staff to provide high-quality, student-centered instruction and a positive learning experience. The role follows teacher plans, supports active learning, maintains a culturally responsive classroom, and helps students build skills and confidence.

What you'll do

• Follow teacher plans and school procedures
• deliver instructional activities that support active learning
• collaborate with teaching staff
• supervise students and assist with related duties such as hall monitoring, lunch distribution, transportation supervision, or class coverage
• leave a progress statement for the teacher
• maintain a positive, culturally responsive classroom
• participate in student and family activities when needed.
