The Residential Assistant role is onsite in Wailuku, HI, with compensation of $15–$18 per hour. Mental Health Kokua’s residential program supports adults living with mental illness as they build daily living skills and move toward more independent living. The assistant provides practical support, supervision, and encouragement in a safe home environment. By teaching daily living skills, supporting individualized recovery goals, and coordinating with case managers and colleagues, the role helps residents build confidence and participate in community life.

What you'll do

• Guide residents in communication, peer relationships, problem-solving, and recovery goals
• teach cooking, personal hygiene, budgeting, and other daily living skills
• maintain a safe and respectful environment, respond to emergencies, and document incidents
• organize and participate in social, educational, and recreational activities
• assist with shopping, meal preparation, cleaning, and maintenance coordination
• monitor residents’ well-being and behavior
• oversee self-administration of medications as appropriate to the level of care
• document progress notes, service plans, and reports
• collaborate with case managers and colleagues.
